Google Guaranteed / Google Local Service Ads?

Should You Waste Your Money?

In today’s video, we are going to be talking all about Google Guaranteed Ads also known as Google Local Services or Google Home Service Ads?

We are going to talk about what they are, how they work? How much they cost to run? How do you get signed up and if it’s it even worth your time?

Let’s dive right in.

What are Google Guaranteed Ads?

If this is your first time hearing about these ads you may or may not be behind the curve. These ads started rolling out just a few years ago, but no need to worry as some areas have seen them sooner than others.

For our local market here it was late 2019 for some major cities in the U.S it was somewhere around…..

So what are these new google local service ads you are hearing so much about? Well, they are the new kid on the block.

They are ads devoted to home service industries but they are quite different from regular Google ads formally known as Google Adwords and different from your Google My Business.

Let’s take a look.

If you do a search for HVAC companies in Vancouver (insert video of desktop search)

You can see these ads are right at the top… getting the most visibility on every search.

If you do the same search on mobile which more than half of people search on you will see just how much real estate these ads take up.

If you were a homeowner that is the very first thing that catches your eye.

How Does Google Local Service Ads Work?

Essentially these ads are only available to select industries in Canada and the U.S. These cover things from HVAC, carpet cleaning, electricians, roofing contractors, and more. The full list of where these local service ads are available below.

What Google does is give certain businesses a fancy Google Guaranteed Badge. What this means is that Google is guaranteeing your business is trustworthy and provides a great quality of work and if a customer has an issue with it they will personally pay your unhappy customer up to $2,000.

Now you may be thinking that’s pretty risky for them to do, but here’s the hidden gem. They do a complete background check with their partner of choice on every individual employee who may enter into someone’s home.

Not only that they make sure the business is completely insured and basically is who they say they are.

Lucky for you this may get rid of some of the scammy low ballers in your area…

Unfortunately, if you as the owner or your employees don’t pass their full check your business may not qualify for these local service ads.

Now, this does have some fine print that I have seen from Google which does seem to make it hard for a customer to complain.

I believe a customer only has 30 days from completion to make their complaint. It doesn’t cover add-on or future projects, damages to property, dissatisfaction with price or provider responsiveness, or cancellations.

So, in reality, it is not so risky for them to make some serious new cashflows but also for your business to have a new channel for getting new customers.

Let’s take a look at what that dashboard looks like
As you can see it actually pulls in data from your Google my business profile. This is really great as reviews are one of the biggest factors in getting that top 3 spots.

What you can see is that you really don’t have all that much you can edit for your listing. It’s honestly very simple and nowhere near the features of your Google my business listing.

I’ll be creating another video on how to optimize your Google guaranteed listing to get as many leads as possible.

It’s pretty much as simple as setting your weekly budget and seeing which new lead comes in.

How Much Does Google Guarantee Cost?

Well, it is different from Google Ads in that you only pay per lead or per call. Which to most is a huge relief. Better yet those calls are pretty cheap. For the HVAC industry as of today I know it is only $30 and I believe that is both for the U.S and Canada.

If you are in a different industry or are paying a different price comment below and it should help others know what they should expect to pay per lead in their industry.

What is really great about this service is that you also get a dashboard where you will have the call recording of each lead that comes in.

You can mark them as booked and you can see how many of these leads are actually booking with you and of course, you can find out whether or not you are making money. This prevents you from paying for crappy calls.

How Do You Get Signed Up for Google Guarantee?

It’s pretty easy to start the process, I have added a link below or I believe you can do a quick google search for local service ads and you should find what you are looking for.

How long does Google Guarantee take to Get Approved?

If you are expecting to be approved in a few days it’s most likely not going to happen. The background checks take time so expect somewhere from a few weeks to a few months before you may see your business up there. If you have more employees it may take longer and can be quite the process.

The earlier you start the better off you will be.

Some Added bonuses for using these ads.

Google Assistant

This is a really interesting one because of how much voice search is growing. Essentially Google will recommend companies from local service ads when someone does a voice search.

I believe this is only available in the U.S as of right now. I am in Canada So I haven’t had a chance to use it.

It will be really interesting to see how that will continually bring new leads in the future as more voice search is done.

Is Google Guarantee Worth It For Your Business?

If you care about getting new leads for your business then absolutely. As I have said this is going to get the most exposure on the SERP or search engine results page.

That visibility is what will bring you new business and as of right now the costs are pretty cheap and definitely worth it. I would suggest signing your business up as soon as you can.
